CARDIO TIP OF THE WEEK - Many people jog or run on a treadmill for cardio health, but often these same people complain of knee, ankle, foot and lower back pain. No surprise. All that pounding can be hard on the joints.
A great option to get all the cardio benefit of the treadmill, while eliminating the pain and actually firming the butt, calves and hamstrings is as follows ....
Set the treadmill to maximum incline (usually 15-20 degrees) Set the speed somewhere around 3.0 mph (based on your level of fitness) Now power walk at this steep incline. Swing your arms somewhat but do NOT hold on. You will really get your heart and lungs pumping while feeling much more muscle activation in your rear and legs. And of course - none of that constant pounding.
