Many people trust the BMI formula for determining healthy weight. Well ...... this formula is almost useless in my opinion and can give people the wrong impression as to their fitness level. I have long stated that BMI is a pretty much useless statistic. In fact, scales themselves are pretty useless for determining healthy body weight. A mirror is the best tool. For example, in my own case .... at 5'11" and 212 pounds my BMI is 29.6 indicates I am borderline OBESE (BMI=30). I shoot down the whole BMI idea in my new book and tell people to only use the scale for rough bodyweight estimates --- Trust the MIRROR to tell you the truth (good or bad). Overly simplistic formulas based on simple weights and heights do not account for body composition, muscle-vs-fat ratios, or tissue density, etc... BMI = "almost" useless mathematical formula.
